Our vineyards are acclaimed sites in Carneros, the Russian River Valley, Santa Lucia Highlands, and beyond.
Rolling hills and largely calcareous soils abound in the slightly cooler Adelaida District, where our grapes grow.
Roussanne is a difficult grape to grow and a challenging grape to vinify. After we lost our block at Saralee's Vineyard, finding an admirable new source was not going to be fast or easy. At the end of a search that spanned several years, our friends at the renowned Tablas Creek Vineyards graciously introduced us to Glenrose Vineyard in Paso Robles. Situated not far from their winery among the rolling hillsides of the Adelaida District, Glenrose Vineyard rests over layers of limestone that you can see at various points in the vineyard and at rifts along its ridges. With its calcareous soils, vineyard topography, warm days and cool nights, among other factors, Glenrose Vineyard has become an outstanding source for flavorful and complex Roussanne with enticing minerality. Although the temperatures are generally a bit cooler in this part of Paso Robles compared to many other points in the region, the weather is still the warmest of anywhere we grow. As a result, the Roussanne ripens much earlier than we experienced at Saralee's Vineyard and is usually among the first vineyards that we pick.
coterie noun.
A small group with shared interests or tastes.
Since 2007, Coterie has produced wines from tiny parcels within acclaimed vineyards that express the distinction of their place. We make every wine berry to bottle by hand with exceptional care in the vineyard and non-interventional practices at the winery. The winery is nestled in a cozy neighborhood near downtown San Jose, where it transformed an old warehouse into a beautiful place for wine.
